Here at Highfield School we require lots of additional equipment, projects and specialist services to offer the very best experience and opportunities for our learners.
Our part time Income Generator and our volunteer led Highfield Friends and Parents Association create a number of fundraising events and exciting opportunities throughout the year to promote Highfield School, involve the wider community and raise crucial funds to improve the school’s facilities and extra curricular provision for our learners.
Currently the Highfield Friends and Parents Association (HFPA) is raising money for iBoards. These fully interactive boards are used daily in our learner’s classes and link with the other key technology within the school. We have now successfully installed 8 iBoards within Highfield, with the aim to install a further 5 over the coming years. The HFPA have accelerated this process by running half marathons, baking cakes, creating magical Christmas fundraising events and glittering dinners with amazing auction prizes. To help with this particular fundraising appeal check out the HFPA Key Dates for more information.
Our Fundraising priorities 2016/17
We are currently fundraising for the following projects & initiatives which are not part of our statutory education provision but so critically needed to help our learners at Highfield School:
Sensory Garden – Help Highfield Bloom – We are seeking a mix of funding, donated materials and volunteering time to transform a grassy corner of our grounds into a fully accessible multi-sensory garden. Our Highfield Garden pupils will be involved in all aspects of the garden, from design to ongoing horticultural maintenance.
Aim High at Highfield – We are looking to purchase a trampoline & support training costs of core staff to be able to offer Rebound Therapy to all of our learners. Rebound Therapy is a nationally accredited exercise therapy which uses trampolines to provide opportunities for movement, therapeutic exercise and recreation for people across the whole spectrum of special needs.
Get Creative at Highfield – Each term we fund external specialists in dance, art and music therapy. This specialist provision enhances our pupil’s learning and interaction at the school. Learning new ways to communicate & engage in creative opportunities.
i-mprove the IT at Highfield School –The HFPA have been running, baking and event hosting to raise the funds to transform our IT provision within classrooms. We have now secured funding for ipads & interactive apps for each class. We have invested grant donations into EyeGaze technology and we are now raising funds to install i-boards into every class room.
LEGO Therapy, Sensory Toys & Play Opportunities – We are always in need of robust sensory toys, books and LEGO which are used by all key stages for all learners within the school. We know that play stimulates learning, team work and communication and, well makes our school fun too.
Outdoor Play areas & our Wheely Good Project – Highfield School has extensive outdoor play and recreation areas. We are always seeking ways to create new play opportunities for our students. We are currently looking to raise funds for adapted trikes, a sport wheelchair, scooters and storage. We would love to install a permanent all weather table tennis table to create new sporting challenges.
